9 out of the box ways to appreciate your team
Sick of your usual methods of showing your appreciation for your team? Check out these 9 ideas for fresh ways to offer up a little gratitude.
- Do supervision in a nearby park or coffeeshop. A change of scenery can be a nice way to refocus your conversation without the distractions of the office.
- Bring in breakfast sandwiches for your team members who have been outstanding lately. Make sure to tell them in advance so that they anticipate them and skip their usual mundane oatmeal that day.
- Pick out a thoughtful greeting card and write a heartfelt note about why you’re feeling gratitude for your employee.
- Leave a small gift card for a nearby coffeeshop on your employee’s desk for her find with a note about her recent awesomeness. The next time she needs a break, the coffee is on you!
- Announce your employee’s success in the next meeting. Check in with her to make sure she’s up for this attention. It’s not everyone’s thing.
- Bake or grab some sweet treats for your team ‘just because’. In addition to the gesture, the effort will be noticed.
- Organize a retreat (could be in your office) with team building activities that get your team out of their day-to-day and connecting on a personal level. A few hours of investing in these relationships will have lasting effects on their productivity as a team.
- Take your high performing employee out to lunch. Use the time to get to know her and what helps her do so well under your leadership.
- Write a ‘thank you’ email to your employee with a genuine note about how her work makes your company succeed.
