Having doubts about your brilliance? Whether it’s because your boss just recognized your coworker’s contributions on a project you led, or because someone unauthorized to do so just told you how you missed the mark on an assignment, we all feel inadequate from time to time

When these moments strike, have a plan to rebalance yourself and your self worth. Create a “best of” folder filled with your most impressive projects and the praise that you received from them. Some items to include in your folder are:

  • your best annual evaluations

  • emails of praise

  • writing assignments that you’re proud of

  • your job offer letter

  • emails you’ve sent asserting your boundaries that others respected

  • your job description that sounds really impressive (even though your actual job doesn’t feel impressive)

  • your diploma

  • awards you’ve earned

Once you’ve created this folder, open it whenever you’re feeling inadequate. It’s bound to lift you up and remind you of your greatest moments—the best of your career thus far. The good news is that this folder will be forever growing throughout your career. And this feeling, too, shall pass. What’s in your “best of” folder? Share in the comments below.
